MORI is a neighbourhood specialty coffee café in Blackburn, loved for its Market Lane coffee, high-grade matcha and Japanese-inspired cakes. It’s the kind of place where regulars, first-timers, prams and dogs are all made to feel at home.
After running paid social campaigns with us to drive foot traffic, owners Oscar and Caridee were ready for the next step. Their single landing page had done its job, but they wanted a proper website where people could buy MORI’s coffee, matcha and merch online, and where their sister brand, Butter Canvas, could take custom cake orders without the back-and-forth.
We recommended Shopify for its easy day-to-day management and room to grow, then shaped the whole site around how MORI feels in person: warm, unhurried and welcoming. We wrote the site copy in MORI’s voice and led the creative direction for a fresh shoot of the café, captured by photographer Daniel Bilsborough.
The store was built on a Shopify theme tailored to MORI’s palette and type, with collections for Coffee + Tea, Cups + Merch and a For Pets range for the café’s four-legged regulars. Orders ship Australia-wide, with click and collect from the café. We also moved MORI’s existing newsletter subscribers across and set up a first-visit offer to keep the list growing.
To help MORI get found beyond Blackburn, we launched the Journal with posts written for search and AI answer engines (AEO and GEO), and finished with a short video walkthrough so the team can update content, publish posts and add products on their own.
MORI went live with its new website in September 2026, giving the café a home online that feels just like walking through its door.
For the first time, MORI has its own online store to sell its coffee, matcha, merch and pet treats, giving locals and fans further afield another way to take MORI home between visits.
Butter Canvas now has a dedicated home on the MORI site. Rather than mixing cake pre-orders into the coffee checkout, enquiries flow straight to the sister brand’s own booking platform, streamlining orders for customers and making life simpler for the team.
The Journal gives MORI a place to share the stories behind the bar, from why the café pours Market Lane to how Butter Canvas came to the bench, building visibility in search over time.
Most importantly, the MORI team is genuinely happy with the result.
“The website has come together beautifully and is exactly what we pictured.”
Caridee, Co-owner, MORI Coffee Blackburn
